End of Year Advice: Andy Evansen

Andy Evansen (Ep 12) is an artist from the Midwest. He paints wet-into-wet watercolor and works both en plein air and in his studio (especially during those cold Minnesotan winters.)  Evansen’s interest in art started in childhood, as he can’t recall a time when he wasn’t drawing. He began painting watercolors in the mid 1990s as a change of pace from his career as a medical illustrator.

ON GOALS

A good goal would be to work on your own vision or 'style.'  We're all in forced isolation, which can be troublesome when searching for inspiration.

But instead of lamenting not being able to travel, use this time to dig a little deeper, maybe get more personal with your work. Spend time going for walks (for God's sake step away from the news) and observing your surroundings closely.

You may be surprised by the new compositions, or new takes on an old theme, that result.
