Discover The Design Power of Triangles with Chris Krupinksi

There are many ways to approach design.

One way artist Chris Krupinski (Ep.2) does it, is through triangles.

Krupinski uses her big shapes in threes and uses them to form triangles. Triangles move your viewer's eye around the painting while also keeping her eyes in the painting.

Krupinski looks for ways to use triangles when it comes to both colors and shapes.

In her painting, “Another Distorted View,” note that Krupinski is also using color in a triangle form. In this case yellow.

Put it to Practice:

In your next painting, ask yourself if there are places you can use triangles to strengthen your work.

Remember, you don't have to use the reference exactly as you have it. You can get rid of a yellow flower and make it red so that you have a triangle of red flowers.

Play around with your options. A thumbnail drawing is a great, low stakes place to do this.
